SCOUTS BSA
A big part of being a Scout is learning new things, especially about the community in which these young people reside.
The Museum offers a plethora of opportunies for young Scouts to get a glimpse of life in Southeast Texas, from prehistoric times to the people and events of the 20th and 21st Century.

School Tours
The Museum of the Gulf Coast offers FREE school tours to students third through 12th grade year-round. All tours are led by a docent guide and last approximately 1-1/2 hours. The standard museum tour includes two floors of permanent exhibits in addition to our featured temporary exhibitions.

Family Fun Days
The Museum hosts four Family Fun Days a year that are free of charge to the public. Along with special attractions for children, visitors also have access to the rest of the museum. Family Fun Days are usually in March, May, October, and December. Click on the link below to see this year's schedule.

Make the Connection
The Museum offers five interactive hands-on programs that give youth an opportunity to connect with Gulf Coast heritage and culture through exhibit tours, role-playing, and hands-on activities.

Teen Troupe Volunteers
Each year, the Museum gives local teens the opportunity to positively impact their community, explore their interests, and discover new talents in a safe, educational environment.

This experience teaches real-world skills which prepare teens for the challenges they will face when they begin working. Volunteer projects, summer camp programs, and museum events are the focus of Teen Troupe.

Discovery Trunks
The Discovery Trunk is a “touch everything” program using artifacts and objects specifically designated for hands-on learning.
Discovery Trunks are portable history, science, and art lessons that can travel to classrooms, lecture halls, nursing homes, community centers, libraries, etc.
